rain

by  angela caporaso

These visual poems are inspired by some of Emily Dickinson's verses and "Gardens in the Rain" , a piece by Claude Debussy written in 1903

Usually "Gardens in the Rain" is compared to the gardens painted by Claude Monet, in these visual poems it is instead paired with Emily Dickinson's verses dedicated to rain , " A drop fell on the apple tree/ Another on the roof ….“
From Debussy's piece, these visual poems in fact borrow the violent repetition of wind and rain, while, similarly to Dickinson's verses , rain is also understood as prosperity and wealth.
